Famous San Francisco “Postcard Row” Home is Up for Sale

It’s one of San Francisco’s best known homes — or at least it is when it is viewed along with its neighboring houses in the classic “postcard row” shot that adorns so many, erm, postcards. And now it’s for sale.

The stately Alamo Square mansion at 722 Steiner St, known as the Shannon-Kavanaugh House, has just listed for $3,999,999, reports Socket Site.

The home has five bedrooms and a plethora of architectural details but was apparently slated for demolition in the 1970s. Now fully restored, complete with working gaslights and original stained-glass windows, it guarantees its new owner a slice of San Francisco history.

In fact, the listing mentions that this home is the second most photographed home in the country, after the White House, and that owning it is comparable to being in possession of the Golden Gate Bridge. But don’t let that put you off.

According to Socket Site, the house has earned its keep through “movies, TV shows, advertising, tours, guest accommodations and by hosting unique private parties, catered events, weddings, receptions and other special events”.
