San Francisco Home buyers: Why Buy Green Homes?

If you are looking to buy a “green” home in the San Francisco Bay Area, now, on REALTOR.com® ,  you can customize your search to include energy efficient homes as well as other property features as you shop for your  home.

How much impact does a green home have on the environment, you ask?  The government reports that “Energy Star qualified homes built in 2009 are the equivalent of:

  • Eliminating emissions from 51,645 vehicles
  • Savings 312,399,672 lbs of coals
  • Planting 85,372 acres of trees, and

Saving in the environment 612,678,574 pounds of CO2.”

Even though “green homes” tend to require more more money upfront,  it’s inevitable you’ll save money and help the environment in the long run.
