First-Time Homebuyers Extension Passes House

June 30, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Thousands of first-time homebuyers were making a mad dash to close on the current deadline, today, June 30th,  to receive the $8,000 tax credit. But many of those who signed a purchase agreement prior to April 30th are having difficulty closing  due to the slow short sale process and the backlog facing many lenders right now. Thanks to a 409-5 vote, passed by the house, the closing deadline has been extended to September 30th for buyers who met the April 30th deadline to have a signed contract.

For all of those of you who were relying upon this extension, we hope you close before September 30th!
