Organizations Provide Funds for Dolores Park Playground

Back in April, 2009 SF Rec and Park Commission approved $1.5 million in bond funds to match a $1.5 million grant from the Mercer Fund for the renovation of the 30-year old Dolores Park playground.  Just a few days ago, the Board of Supervisors accepted over $3.25 million  for the renovation, creating a wonderful merger between public and private funding.

The Friends of Dolores Park Playground and the Mercer Fund organizations will provide the funds, raised through donations and the 2008 Park Bond Measure, to the city’s Recreation and Parks Department to rebuild the children’s playground.

A  world class playground will be integrated into the Park, along with more benches and sculptures.
